Spend Children’s Day on Słodowa Island

Throughout the weekend there are many attractions waiting for children on Słodowa Island. The program includes concerts, animations and fun art for children, workshops, sports activities, quizzes, games and contests with prizes.

Saturday will be marked by outdoor games for children. Scouts from the Lower Silesia Scouts Regiment Rally (Zlot Chorągwi Dolnośląskiej ZHP) will visit the island. They will put on stage animations, dancing and singing and contests for the public. The event starts at 10 am. Each of the open-air stands will represent a different EU country. Anyone who would like to, will be able to take part in national games and taste European delicacies.  At 12:00 the Our Days Orchestra (Orkiestra Dni Naszych) will give a concert, followed at 1 pm by Liminis Scouts Artistic Group.
During the day you will also be able to enjoy a climbing wall, a giant table football or a game of badminton.

On Sunday, starting at 1 pm, Children’s Day Encore will take place. This time volunteers from Slot Art Festival and Votun Foundation will be joining us on Słodowa Island. The program will also include fun art for children, face painting, pottery workshops, fitness competitions, slackline, walking on stilts demonstrations and workshops, animations and sports activities for children, family games and contests with prizes. Children will have an opportunity to enjoy inflatable toys, e.g. a slide.

Throughout the event, representatives from Wrocław institutions supporting the families will be waiting in an information tent, ready to give suggestions and offer advice. During “Open-air talks”, specialists and experts will be talking about family, health and first aid issues. Every 30 minutes, on three stands, guidance will be offered on the secrets of molding and bringing up children, establishing relationship with them or helping them in health-and life-threatening situations. Children will have an opportunity to learn what to do when something happens to their parents or peers – all this under the instructors’ watchful eye. During the event you will also be able to sign up for free first aid training and workshops for parents.

An additional attraction for children will be a “Teddy Bear Hospital”, opened from 2 to 5p.m. Children will have a possibility to try their hand as responsible carers and take their favorite teddy bear to the doctor. At the hospital, medical students will conduct a medical history with children, dress their teddies, and explain how to deal with sick teddy bears to help them recover – all in order to overcome children’s fear of visiting the doctor. The promoter of the „Teddy Bear Hospital” campaign is IFMSA-Poland.
