Hansel and Gretel will promote non-Olympic sports games in Wroclaw

Hansel and Gretel were chosen by Internet users to become the mascots of The World Games. The other candidates included a lion, a bee, a dwarf and an owl-cat.

Hansel and Gretel have been chosen by Internet users in a contest to decide the mascot of The 10th World Games, which will be held in Wroclaw in 2017.

The competition for the mascot of TWG in 2017 involved 620 works, of which the jury selected 50 proposals for the semifinals. The final featured five works, and the winning design was elected by Internet users.

Hansel and Gretel – 31.1%
Lion – 29.9%
Dwarf – 22.3%
Bee – 11%
Owl-Cat – 5.7%

A total of 15 856 votes were cast in the entire process of the selection of The World Games 2017 mascot, which included voting for the work of the month and the final vote.

The authors of the winning work are students of Secondary School No. 3 in Wroclaw – Magda Włoczka and Ola Gromadowska.

First prize in the competition for the mascot is a sport and travel suite worth up to 10 thousand zloty, which includes tickets for sporting events like the world championships or European championships held in Poland or a neighboring country for all members of the team, the team supervisor and one group leader, travel in both directions, accommodation, meals and local tourist attractions.
