The 12th Art Competition organized by the Wroclaw Anima Club has just begun. Participants must prepare a comic book on any subject using any technique.
Each entrant may submit one work in at least A3 format made with their chosen artistic technique: pencil: colored pencils, charcoal, pastels (protected with fixative), paint (watercolor, acrylic, gouache, tempera, oil), batik, graphic techniques (excluding computer graphics), collage.
Participation is open to people of 5 to 20 years old, and the aim of the project is to develop the creativity and artistic sensitivity of children and adolescents. The competition is open to students of primary school (classes 0-VI), middle school (I-III), high school (I-IV) and participants in the arts section of cultural centers and individuals. The works will be grouped into four age categories. From each of them, the jury will select the best three comics, the makers of which will be awarded prizes.
In addition to the awards, Anima Club will hold an exhibition of the winning works to enable children and young people to present their talent. The best works will be selected by a jury composed of:
– Krystyna Szczepaniak – Graduate of the Faculty of Painting, Graphics and Sculpture at Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan. She works with a number of techniques, particularly painting and drawing. She has a lot of individual and collective exhibitions.
– Zuzanna Łobuś – Graduate of PLSP in Wroclaw. Her main work is painting and drawing, but also book illustrations, graphic design, fashion design. Currently, she is primarily engaged in the art of portraiture.
– Jacek Doszyn – Graduate of Academy Of Arts in the Faculty of Graphic Arts. His diploma was supervised by Eugeniusz Get-Stankiewicz (1990). He specializes in woodcuts and screen printing. In graphic design he focuses on the poster. He has participated in many prestigious exhibitions and competitions, both in Poland and abroad. He is the winner of many awards and distinctions.
The jury will assess primarily the quality of use of the selected techniques and originality of interpretation of the theme. Submissions should be sent until April 10. The decision will be announced on April 17 and the exhibition and awards handing will take place on April 25.
