The World Hello Day was established in 1973. Presently it is celebrated in USA and over a hundred other places in the world. Since 2006 the main idea has been: cherish random kindness and beautiful acts not necessarily purposeful. This thought appeared on posters in the subway in Prague and was also referenced by Mr. Mariusz Szczygieł in his book “Make yourself a paradise” (PL: Zrób sobie raj).
The department responsible for the city hall’s public relations, together with numerous partners runs an initiative called “Hello Day: Find yourself friendly” (PL: “Dzień Życzliwości. Znajdź się wśród życzliwych”). The aim of this campaign is to promote friendliness – encouraging to commit into doing good deeds for each other and building the city’s image as a city with friendly citizens. Wrocław always celebrates the Hello Day on November 21.
The idea to celebrate kindness came to life based on a rejection of the roughness the everyday reality serves us. November 21 is as good as any other day – it is important to be friendly on a daily basis. Therefore we invite you all to join this campaign. Same as each year – our joy is contagious and we are going to have a lot of fun!
