In Wrocław, spring is heralded by fountains. The most popular one, “Zdrój” in the Market Square, has been running since Saturday, despite the not very spring-like weather, and accumulating snow.
Early April opens the season for Wrocław’s fountains that – having been turned off for the winter – start to operate again, even in the wake of the still wintery aura, snow and low temperatures. The Roads and City Maintenance Office, responsible for the city fountains, launched seven more today.
The fountain at the Salt Square is already running, as well as “The Fencer” at the University Square. Other already operating fountains include the popular “Lions” at the John Paul II Square and the one in the Lwów Eaglets Square, just opposite the railway station Świebodzki. The next two are the colored fountain at Oławska street, and the one next to the University of Technology campus at Wybrzeże Wyspiańskiego. The “fountain season” will last until the end of October.
