Children from 3 to 7 years old will get to know the most interesting residential buildings and, together with art historians, will build models of colored blocks of flats.

On Saturday, October 24, Castle Cultural Center invites you for an encounter with architecture. Classes will be held twice at 11 am and 12:30 pm. Participants will learn principles for the design of large housing blocks and they will jointly build a scale model of such a settlement.

Participation in the classes costs 7 zloty. Booking by phone: 349 32 81, int: 29.

The classes will last 60 minutes. In the first part the children learn about different types of housing blocks and their most famous examples (including Marseillan unit, Super unit, Stars district, Millennial Housing in Katowice, Manhattan in Wroclaw, Breakwater in Gdansk, etc.). They will be also introduced to the originator of this architectural solution – Le Corbusier. They will reflect on what a block of flats should be in order to live well in it. The children will talk about their own homes and what they would change to make them better.

The second part of the course is a workshop with the building of settlements. Each participant should bring a box measuring approximately 30x30x40 cm. The task will be to adorn it with elements of colored paper, according to their own plan (different window shapes, colors etc.). Then the box will be connected – with the help of adult tutors– to create floors that will form blocks.
