On June 20 there will be an extraordinary event accompanying the BRIDGES project of the European Capital of Culture, co-organized by the General Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany in Wroclaw. Along with guests from Hitzacker, we will celebrate union, meeting and cooperation. Choreographers Małgorzata Rostkowska and Aleksandra Osowicz will show us how to dance to the rhythm of brass music, and each participant will receive a mask of the Wroclaw dwarfs designed by the artist Aleksandra Błędowska.

The happening refers directly to the recent history of the city. In the eighties anti-communist slogans appeared on the walls of Wroclaw, which were carefully removed by the authorities. In place of those white spots Waldemar Major Frydrych decided to paint… dwarfs.

Soon after, as a part of the Orange Alternative, dwarfs went from the walls to the street and began to organize happenings under the slogan “There is no freedom without dwarfs”, which encouraged the police to arrest them. The communist system had reached the high point of absurdity. In this way, dwarfs contributed – in their own way – to the overthrow of the Berlin Wall.

In 1989, 44 years after the division of Germany and seven days after the fall of the Berlin Wall, in the town of Hitzacker, 523 kilometer up the river, strange and unbelievable events took place.

Join us to find out what kind of events! Half an hour is enough to go back in time. On June 20, we will have an opportunity to become part of a dwarf happening.

The first 30 people will receive a surprise ticket for attractive events.

Refreshments and shared fun are guaranteed. After the meeting, fans of the Dwarfs will gain something that cannot be replaced: experience in the construction of the bridge, contribution to a European cultural project and new acquaintances that are always appreciated.

The meeting will take place at midday in the vicinity of the City Moat, near the General Consulate of Germany and the Partisan Hill in Wroclaw.
