Come to the Historic Picnic on an antique tram, and see an aerial battle

tramwaj zabytkowyOn Sunday, children will have fun at the historical puzzles and spatial jigsaw. The highlight of the picnic will be an aerial battle, craft workshop and a series of competitions in strategic board games like Queue, commemorating the communist time.

This historical family picnic is a celebration of the 15th anniversary of the National Remembrance Institute (IPN), on October 11. The picnic will begin at noon at Centennial Hall. Admission and participation in all events is free.

In the children zone, there will be historical puzzles, spatial jigsaw and art classes. Scouts will share with older children the secrets of knots and reading maps. There will be also plenty of fun for adults. In the Player Zone, it will be possible to take part in tournaments with prizes. The volunteers will compete in strategic games prepared by the IPN, such as 303 (also available in XXL), Memory of ’39, Defense of Lviv, and games reproducing the reality of the declining Polish People’s Republic like Queue and Regimentation.

The aerial battle show will feature old models of aircraft, remembering the times of World War II, and the craft workshop will be an additional treat. Volunteers will learn techniques for building models of military vehicles and aircraft from the 30s and 40s.

Booking is essential for all workshops and tournaments with the tutor in each zone. It will be possible to reach the picnic via a free historic tram – from the loop at the Opera House to the Centennial Hall (Teatralny Square – Dominikański Square – Grunwaldzki Square – Centennial Hall / Zoo; departures every hour from 11:30 am until 4:30 pm).

All participants in the picnic will be able to take a souvenir photo in the photo area. Later, a commemorative poster will be created from those photos. The picnic will begin at midday in the multifunctional aula of Wroclaw Congress Center at Centennial Hall, ending at 6 pm.
